Built in the 1930s, Calgary International Airport (YYC) is one of Canada’s busiest hubs. It serves the city of Calgary in Alberta and is located about 17 km northeast of its downtown area. YYC welcomed over 18.5 million passengers in 2023, re-establishing itself as one of the country’s busiest airports.

As of today, YYC is used by about 15 airlines offering flights to over 30 domestic destinations and about 50 international ones in the US, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. This airport also serves as the primary hub for WestJet.

Calgary International Airport Terminals and Gates Map

Calgary Airport consists of two terminals connected by a walkway and a shuttle. This passes through Concourses A, C, and D/E in a loop and operates between 6:00 am and 1:00 am.

  • Domestic Terminal: The Domestic Terminal is the oldest one and was opened in 1977. The first floor is for arrivals, while the second is for departures and features gates, and check-in desks. There is also a mezzanine level with several restaurants and airline offices. This terminal is divided into three concourses: A - C.

  • International Terminal: The International Terminal opened its doors to the public in 2016. The first floor is used for arrivals, while the second and the third are for international departures. More specifically, the third floor is used for flights heading to the USA. This terminal is home to the D and E gates.

This airport has plenty of amenities for its passengers. Here, you will find nursing rooms for mothers and fun areas for children. Those traveling with pets should also make use of the pet relief areas located inside the terminals. The airport offers free wifi, several stores, and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

  • Public Transport: YYC is connected to Calgary via public transportation. For instance, Route 100 provides transportation to Saddletowne LRT Station and North Pointe Bus Terminal, while Route 300 heads to Downtown Calgary. You can find more information on the airport’s official website.

  • Car Hire: Plenty of car rental agencies are available on-site.

  • Taxi: Taxis are also available. A trip to downtown Calgary will cost you about $40 - $45. You can also opt for apps such as Uber and Lyft.
