Frankfurt International Airport is one of the most important hubs in Europe. Find your way around the airport and see everything from terminals and gates to transportation and hotels.
Being Germany’s main international airport, Frankfurt is well connected to the rest of the world. Frankfurt Airport is one of the busiest airports in Europe and an important connecting hub for traffic passing through the continent. The airport also serves as the main hub for major operator Lufthansa.
At Frankfurt Airport you find two large passenger terminals, conveniently called Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In the map at the top of the page you find the location of each terminal and the gates. There is also a smaller terminal that is dedicated to first class flights.
Terminal 1: This terminal is the older and larger of the two main terminals at the airport. The terminal is divided into several floors with the arrivals at ground floor and departures at the upper floor. In total you find more than 100 gates in Terminal 1. The primary users of this terminal are Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners.
Terminal 2: With a little more than 40 gates, Terminal 2 is mainly used by the members of Oneworld. This is also where you find the airlines that are not part of any global airline alliance, like for example Emirates.
Maybe you are passing by Frankfurt on a longer trip and need somewhere to sleep for the night? When it comes to hotels at the airport there are actually a number of different options to choose from, located at different parts of the airport. With that being said, the majority of the hotels are found close to Terminal 2.
If you are looking for a way to reach Frankfurt (or another part of Germany) from the airport, there are a couple of options to choose from. A popular alternative is to go by train, and there are both local public transportation and long-distance trains to be found at the airport.
If you prefer going by car, the majority of the largest car rental companies in Europe are represented at the airport.
At Frankfurt Airport there is a wide range of restaurants, cafes and bars, making sure there is something for all flavors. For travelers interested in shopping, Frankfurt can offer everything from large duty-free shops to high-end fashion and the latest electronics.
