Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt (BER) is an international airport serving Berlin, the capital city of Germany, and the surrounding State of Brandenburg, an area with 6 million inhabitants. Located 18km (11mi) southeast of Berlin’s city centre it is the third busiest airport in Germany, and one of the fifteenth busiest in Europe.
The airport serves as the base for Condor, easyJet, Eurowings, Ryanair and Sundair. It mostly features flights to European metropolitan and leisure destinations as well as a number of international services.
The airport has two terminals. The names are Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
Terminal 1: Consists of 3 piers. These are named, Main Pier, South Pier, and North Pier.
Main Pier: The Main Pier contains four sections. These are named A, B (01-25), C, and D.
The Main Pier also has four levels. These are designated as 0, 1, 2, and 3.
The check-in area is located before security in the public area of Level 1. Past security, the Main Pier is divided into two levels.
Level 1 is intended for Schengen Area passengers (Gates A01-A20, B01-B20).
Level 2 is intended for non-Schengen Area passengers (Gates C01-C19, D01-D17).
A mezzanine (Level Z) allows for additional pre-boarding security checks for flights to the United States and Israel (Gates A21-A22, Gate B21).
South Pier: contains nine single-storey jet bridges (Gates A30-A38).
North Pier: features a more minimalist design and serves primarily low-cost carriers (Gates B30-B45).
Terminal 2: Designed as a more basic arrivals and departures facility. It connects directly to the North Pier of Terminal 1 to gain more check-in capacity while sharing the same airside areas.

There are a variety of shops and restaurants in Terminal 1 in both the public and security areas. Market Place is home to approximately 25 shops and is located behind security control. There is also a large Food Court in Terminal 1 passed the security checkpoint. There are also 24/7 dining options available in Terminal 1 in the public area.
Terminal 2 offers a wide range of shopping and restaurant services. Most of these are located behind the security control.
Lufthansa operates an airport lounge at the north end of the Main Pier (Gate B20) in Terminal 1. It is also open for alliance partner airlines.
An airport-operated lounge is located at the south end of the Main Pier (Gate A20) in Terminal 1. It is contracted by most of the non-Star Alliance carriers that operate from Terminal 1.
Rail: The railway station is located in Terminal 1 on level U2. The Airport Express (FEX) and regional trains run several times an hour between Berlin Central Station and “Flughafen BER” (BER Airport). The S9 and S45 commuter trains (S-Bahn) run every 20 minutes to Berlin city centre. An Intercity BER T1-2 connects to Rostock and Dresden/Chemnitz several times a day.
Bus: Bus stops are located on the arrivals level (E0) of Terminal 1. There are several express bus routes that operate daily and other bus lines that connect with the rest of Berlin’s public transport network.
Taxi: Passengers arriving at Terminals 1 and 2 use the north and south taxi ranks in front of Terminal 1 on Level E0 as shown in our map at the top of this page.
Car hire: Service counters of car rental providers can be found on arrivals level EO in Terminal 1. The vehicles will be located in the nearby Car rental centre (multi-storey car park P2).
Parking: The airport offers more than 10,000 parking spaces with several options including valet parking, short-term stays, and longer-term parking.
