Ottawa International Airport (YOW), also known as Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport is the main international airport serving Ottawa, the nation’s capital of Canada. Located 10km (6mi) south of downtown Ottawa, it is also responsible for serving the surrounding metropolitan region and Gatineau, Quebec, jointly known as the National Capital Region.
It is Canada’s sixth-busiest airport, and the second busiest airport located within the Province of Ontario. It serves as a hub for Porter Airlines, is a focus city for Air Canada, and a home base for Canadian North.
The airport consists of a single terminal building. At the front entrance of the airport are the pick-up and drop-off areas. Inside the main entrance area is the security checkpoint and ticketing areas.
The airport’s terminal design has specifically been built with the ease and simplicity of travel for its passengers in mind.
Beyond the main entrance area, the terminal building is composed of a long pier-shaped hallway. Here, the boarding gates have been numbered sequentially from right to left as you are facing the airside of the terminal.
You can view our map at the top of this page to view the terminal layout visually. This may help to facilitate a more complete understanding of its layout in relation to the main entrance area, pickup and drop off zone, and parking areas adjacent to the main terminal building.
The airport has some great dining options for travelers which can be found conveniently located before and after the security clearances area. Restaurants at the airport include popular cafes, fast food outlets, juice bars, sit-down high quality gourmet dining experiences, convenience stores, packaged food for takeaway and licensed pub establishments.
As for shopping, there is a wide variety of retail outlets for travellers to explore while they are at the airport. These feature the latest in electronics and gadgets, travel essentials, fashion and apparel items, luggage and accessories, souvenirs, gifts and tax-exempt duty-free shopping.
The airport also offers two premium lounges where passengers can relax and unwind. The Aspire Lounge and the Maple Leaf Lounge can both be found past the security clearances area next to Gate 18.
Rail: The airport station is located on Level 3 of the terminal. This connects to the O-Train network, the local light trail network serving the Ottawa region.
Bus: Bus Route 97 serves the Airport. Passenger pick-up areas are located between pillars 13-16 along the road furthest from the terminal outside Level 1.
Taxi: A taxi queue is located directly outside the main entrance area.
Parking: A covered parkade is located directly across the main entrance. It offers direct connection to the terminal via two skywalks. Further away, to the southeast of the terminal, there is a long-term, overnight surface parking lot. The covered parkade features electric vehicle charging stations while the surface parking lot does not.
Travel for special needs: For those with disabilities, the public service provider, OC Transpo, operates a service Para Transpo for door-to-door transportation.
