Located about 8 km northwest of Bari center, Bari Airport (BRI) is one of the busiest in the south of Italy. Also known as Palese Airport after a nearby neighborhood, BRI handled 6.4 passengers in 2023 and now has roughly 25 airlines operating here. Those traveling to or from BRI will be able to choose among about 50 direct connections, mostly in Europe.
Bari Airport consists of a single terminal building. This is divided into three floors: the ground floor, the first floor, and the mezzanine level. While the ground floor is mainly used by arriving passengers, the first level is dedicated to departing travelers. Despite this, you will still find a few gates on the ground floor, especially in the east wing. The mezzanine level only has a few facilities, such as a restaurant and lounge.
Unfortunately, there are no places to sleep inside the airport, but there are some nearby hotels offering a shuttle service.
Bari Airport is home to a few eateries and cafès, including a MacDonald's. There is also a duty-free store and several other shops selling souvenirs, books, and more.
Here are some common transportation options:
Bus: You can use the airport's official website to find the ideal bus for you. Simply type your destination and see the best option for your trip.
Train: Ferrotramviaria offers a direct connection to Bari Centrale, where you'll be able to get a train to plenty of destinations all over Italy. Tickets cost slightly more than 5 euros, and a trip lasts less than 20 minutes.
Car rental: If you prefer to drive, you will find several car rental agencies outside the terminal.
