Welcoming over 10 million passengers per year, Venice Marco Polo Airport (VEN) is one of the busiest airports in Italy. It offers over 30 destinations, mostly in Europe but with some exceptions to other countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and East Asia. This airport also operates seasonal flights to the USA and other destinations. Named after the famous Venetian merchant and traveler Marco Polo, this airport serves over 20 airlines and is about 7 km north of the center of Venice.
Even though Venice Airport is one of the main hubs in Italy, it consists of a single terminal building. This is divided into three floors:
Ground Floor: Here, you will find the arrivals with baggage claim belts as well as check-in desks 92-99 and 101-139.
First Floor: Check-in desks 1-56 are located on the first floor. This level is also home to the gates and US security checks.
Second Floor: The second floor features a few restaurants, a police office, a smoking lounge, and a few other amenities.
ZzzleepandGo offers sleeping cabins near the check-ins on the ground floor. If you prefer a proper room, there are a variety of hotels and accommodations within 2 km from the airport.
Marco Polo Airport is home to a few local eateries and cafès. Here you will also find a duty-free store and other shops selling all sorts of goods.
There are plenty of ways to travel to and from the airport. Here are some of the most common.
Water Bus: Alilaguna connects the airport to the most touristic islands in Venice, including Murano, Burano, and Lido.
Bus: Plenty of buses connect the airport to Venice, Mestre, and other cities and popular destinations in Italy. You can check the airport’s official website for more detailed information.
Car rental: If you prefer to have your own car, you can rent a vehicle from one of the many agencies available on-site, such as Sicily by Car, Europcar, and Avis. The offices are located on the 3rd floor of multilevel parking P1.
