Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) is an international airport serving the city of Bologna, Italy. It is located approximately 6km (3.7mi) northwest of the city centre.
It is named after Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of the radio, a Nobel laureate and a Bologna native. The airport offers services to destinations throughout Europe and the Middle East.
The airport consists of one terminal. It is a two-storey building.
Arrivals are located on the ground floor. Departures are located on the upper level, first floor.
The main check-in area is located to the west side of the main terminal building.
Once cleared through the security check-in area, Departures gates are numbered sequentially throughout the rest of the terminal, from left to right.
There are many dining options available for travelers and guests, conveniently located before and after security. These include snack bars, restaurants and bars located on the ground floor level, and several more high-quality restaurants and bars located on the upper floor level.
Shops at the airport include luggage wrapping services before clearing security. Beyond the security checkpoint there are several more outlets for passengers to explore, including food shops, bookstores, and a Lamborghini exhibition area in the main shopping area on the ground floor level.
Once having reached the upper level near the Departures area, shoppers are able to enjoy outlets that feature the latest in apparel and fashion, cosmetics and fragrances, photography, leather goods, local wines, duty free and more.
The airport offers lounges and premium services for guests to enjoy. These include a fitness centre, a VIP lounge and additional VIP services including assistance with luggage handling, security and check-in procedures.
Train: A monorail train service connects the airport to Bologna central train station. From there, travelers can access the Italian hub of the country’s high-speed trains network. Services run every 7-minutes during peak times. Transit time between the airport station and city centre takes approximately 7-minutes. Operating hours are 5:40am-12:00am, 365 days a year. The train station is accessible from the first floor (upper level) of the main terminal building via a connecting walkway.
Bus: Bus services operate regularly between the airport and important destinations such as the city centre and Balogna railway station. Transit times are approximately 20-30 minutes for these bus routes. Tickets can be purchased using the vending machine at the airport.
Taxi: Taxi services are available at the airport. Services can be booked over the telephone or using mobile app.
Car rental: Several car rental companies can be found operating on the ground floor of the main terminal building.
Parking: There are many parking options to choose from when staying at the airport. These include covered, partially covered, and uncovered lots. In addition, services offered include valet parking, express parking, long-term stays, and select options for business travelers.
