HotelGlasgow International Airport (GAL) is one of the busiest airports both in Scotland and in the UK and welcomed 7.37 million passengers in 2023. It’s located in the city of Paisley, about 16 km west of Glasgow. GAL is now used by about 15 airlines, offering over 80 destinations worldwide in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and America.
Glasgow Airport consists of a single terminal building with three floors and three piers. All operations and services are located on the ground and first floor, including check-in desks, gates, and passport controls. The second floor is only home to a lounge and a bar.
While there are no hotels inside the airport, there are several accommodations outside its terminal building. Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport and Holiday Inn Express Glasgow Airport are located right in front of the terminal, but there are a few extra options only a quick walk away.
Here, you will find several eateries, including Burger King, Pret a Manger, and Starbucks. The airport also features a duty-free and convenience store as well as several boutiques selling all sorts of products.
There are three main ways to travel to and from the airport.
Bus: The Glasgow Airport Express 500 connects the airport with Buchanan Bus Station.
Taxi: Taxi stands are located outside the terminal. No pre-booking is required.
Car rental: The airport is home to some car rental agencies, where you can rent a car for your trip.
