Located in Dyce, a suburb of Aberdeen about 9 km from its downtown center, Aberdeen Airport (ABZ) is one of the primary hubs in Scotland. As of today, ABZ offers over 30 destinations, mostly in Europe but with few exceptions, such as Dalaman in Turkey. About 13 airlines operate here, leading to 1.9 million passengers choosing this airport for their flights back in 2023.
Aberdeen Airport consists of a main passenger terminal where all charter flights are operated. On top of this, ABZ is also home to four terminals used for North Sea helicopter operations, plus an extra small building for oil company charter flights. The main terminal is divided into two floors:
Ground Floor: This is where the vast majority of services and amenities are located. Passengers can enter the terminal from the west side of the building. From here, they will find check-in desks immediately on their left and domestic and international arrivals on the right. Security checks are in the central area of the terminal. After security, travelers will find Gates 1 - 12.
First Floor: This floor is quite small and is only home to two lounges.
Unfortunately, this airport is not equipped with sleeping pods or other similar facilities. Those hoping to spend the night here, however, can book a room in one of the many accommodations located within walking distance from the terminal.
Aberdeen Airport has plenty of facilities for its passengers. Here, travelers will find a World Duty-Free area as well as a variety of other stores selling all sorts of goods, such as books, fashion accessories, and souvenirs. The airport is also home to some restaurants, a pub, and a few cafés. On top of this, ABZ is equipped with a currency exchange desk, some ATMs, and smoking facilities. Unfortunately, free wifi is only available for one hour.
If you are about to head to Aberdeen Airport, you're probably interested in knowing your transportation options. Here are a few:
Train: Dyce is home to a train station located about 3 km from the terminal. From here, you'll be able to travel to most cities in the country.
Taxi: Those wanting to opt for a taxi will find the stand outside of the terminal, on the left. Cabs can be pre-booked online, with a trip to Aberdeen costing about £20-£25 and one to the nearest train station about £12.
Bus: Stagecoach Jet Service 727 provides connections between Aberdeen Airport and Aberdeen City Centre and other destinations. You can find more information on the official website.
Short-stay, long-stay, and priority parking are also available for those traveling to ABZ with their own car.
