Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is an international airport serving the greater metropolitan area of Austin, Texas in the United States. It is the third-busiest airport in Texas, and the 27th busiest airport in the United States.
Situated on what was formerly the Bergstrom Air Force Base, it is located approximately 5mi (8km) from the southeast part of downtown Austin.
The Barbara Jordan Terminal is the airport’s main terminal. It has a total of 34 gates. Six of these are capable of handling flights from international destinations.

The airport offers a wide range of dining options for guests. These include cafes, juice bars, sushi, breakfast diners, pizza, ice cream shoppes, salad bars, Asian-fusion, Mexican cuisine, hamburgers and sandwiches, local breweries, barbeque, food trucks and many more. Most of these are located past the security checkpoint area.
There are many retail outlets available for shoppers at the airport. These include bookstores, souvenirs, speciality apparel, premium electronics, toys, games, collectables, and boutique wine shops.
The terminal also features a live music stage, in keeping with the city’s motto as “The Live Music Capital of the World.”
Public transport: CapMetro is Austin’s public transportation provider. It operates bus and MetroRail services. Route 20 offers high-frequency services to and from the airport.
Car rentals: There are many car rental agencies with operations at the airport. These can be found at the Rental Car Facility. The Rental Car Facility is located behind, or to the north of, the Red Garage. The airport offers 2 tram services for passengers to easily reach the Rental Car Facility from the main terminal.
Taxi: Taxi and rideshare services can be found beneath the Consolidated Rental Car Facility.
Parking: The airport offers parking at one of its two parking garages, or alternatively at an Economy Lot located a further distance from the airport entrance.
A secondary terminal located off the airport grounds is known as the South Terminal.
The South Terminal is accessed from Burleson Road. It is used by ultra low-cost carriers, Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines.
The South Terminal cannot be accessed from the main airport entrance or the Barbara Jordan terminal. It can only be accessed by completely exiting the airport grounds. A shuttle bus runs between the Barbara Jordan Terminal and the South Terminal.
