Located about eight km from the Darwin city center, Darwin International Airport (DRW) is the only airport serving the capital of the Northern Territory in Australia. This hub is used by eleven companies operating charter flights and seven commercial airlines: Airnorth, Alliance Airlines, Jetstar, Nexus, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, and Virgin Australia. These offer 17 direct routes to several areas in Australia and three international flights heading to Singapore, Bali, and Timor-Leste, a small country in Southeast Asia.

This airport consists of a single terminal extending over two floors:

• Ground Floor: Once inside the airport, passengers will find facilities for arriving travelers on their right and those for departing ones on the left. The right area of the terminal features baggage claims, passport controls, and customs and quarantine offices. The left part of the building houses check-in desks and security screening, after which passengers will find Gate 1 and 2. Extra security checkpoints are located in front of the main entrance.
• Second Floor: The second floor is for international security screening and also features an international transit screening area on the left. The level is divided into an international area on the left and a domestic one on the right. This is also where all the gates are located.

Hotels at Darwin International Airport

Unfortunately, DRW doesn't feature any sleeping pods or transit hotels. However, the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort and the Novotel Darwin Airport Hotel are located in front of the terminal and can be reached with a quick walk. These properties also provide a shuttle service to the airport.

Darwin International Airport offers plenty of amenities for its passengers. The first floor is equipped with ATMs and a duty-free store for arriving travelers, while the upper floor is home to several lounges, a parent's room, a currency exchange desk, and a prayer room. Shower facilities can be found on both floors.

Traveling To and From Darwin International Airport

• Car Hire: Those wanting to rent a car can do so from one of the many car rental agencies available on-site.
• Bus: Companies such as Greyhound Charters and Coach Charters Australia offer trips to and from the airport. A public bus is also available. Its stop is located on Henry Wrigley Drive, near the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort. This can be reached with a quick eight-minute walk from the terminal.
• Taxi & Limo: Some taxi and limo companies also operate on airport grounds.
• Car Hire: Uber is authorized to pick up and drop off passengers near the terminal.
