Cairns Airport (CNS) is an international airport in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Located 7 km (4 mi) north of the Cairns central business district, in the suburb of Aeroglen, the airport is situated in between Mount Whitfield to the west and Trinity Bay on the east.
It is the seventh busiest airport in Australia, offering direct flights to 10 international destinations and 35 domestic destinations, including all major Australian cities and tourist destinations. Also featured are flights to international destinations particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
Using the available connections from its international destinations, travelers to and from Cairns are capable of reaching virtually any destinations throughout the rest of the world.
The airport consists of two passenger terminals, both of which are located to the east side of the airport grounds.
They are located in separate buildings from one another, only approximately 200 metres (660 ft) apart.
Terminal 1 is the international terminal. It contains six jet bridges and Gates 1-2, and 4-6.
Terminal 2 is the domestic terminal. It contains five jet bridges and Gates 2, and 14-22.
Each terminal contains its own areas for check-in, security screening, departures and arrivals. They each also have their own stations where rental car companies operate their service counters.

There are many dining and shopping outlets for travelers to enjoy while at the airport.
Dining at the Cairns Airport features a wide range of options from popular cafes to sandwich shops, burger joints, bakeries, dessert bars and licensed taphouses and breweries.
Retailers at the airport include those featuring fashion and apparel, accessories, health and beauty products, newspapers, magazines, bookstores, electronics, speciality foods and duty free shopping.
There are also lounges at the airport where passengers can relax and unwind. The Qantas club lounge is located on Level 1 of the Terminal 2 Domestic terminal and coming soon is a remodeled executive lounge that will be available at the International Terminal 1.
Bus: Local coach buses are available that run services between the airport and local sites including Cairns CBD, Port Douglas and Palm Cove. Travelers are advised to visit the Exemplar Transfer Desk in the Arrivals area of both the International and Domestic Terminals to enquire about bookings.
Taxi: Cairns Taxis are the only regulated taxi service in the local region. Taxi ranks can be found in front of each terminal building, following the signs. Pre-bookings are not available, however services run 24/7.
Ridesharing: Dedicated ridesharing pickup areas are at both terminals. Terminal 1 the designated area is located at the Eastern end of the terminal. Terminal 2 the designated area is at the Northern end of the terminal.
Car Rentals: Several car rental companies operate at the airport. Their stands are located in the Arrivals Hall of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Budget counter is only available at Terminal 2.
Parking: There are many options available for parking at the airport. An uncovered parking lot is located directly outside of the International Terminal 1. There is a covered parking lot outside of the Domestic Terminal 2. There is also an uncovered parking lot outside of Domestic Terminal 2. Pre-bookings are available as well as pay as you go options.
