Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC), also known simply as “San José Mineta International Airport” is the second busiest airport serving the San Francisco Bay Area. It is named after San Jose native Norman Mineta, the former United States Secretary of Transportation and United States Secretary of Commerce, who also served as Mayor of San Jose and City Councillor.
The airport is located only 3mi (5km) northwest of Downtown San Jose.
The airport has two terminals, Terminal A and Terminal B. Each has their own respective pick-up and drop-off areas, with security checkpoints.
Terminal A: The older of the two terminals, it is located to the North side of the airport. It has 17 gates, (1-7, 7A, 8-16). The terminal contains an international arrivals building, at Gates 15 and 16. All arrivals from noncleared international flights are required to clear customs and security from this part of the terminal.
Terminal B: Located at the south side of the airport grounds, it is the newer of the two terminals. It has 20 gates, 17-36. Two of these gates, Gates 17 and 18, are used for international arrivals. All international flights at this terminal that are non precleared must use these gates.
