Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), also known as Roissy Airport, is the primary international airport serving Paris, France. Located 23 km (14mi) northeast of Paris, the airport serves as the principal hub for Air France, the national flag carrier of the country.
It is also an operating base for easyJet and Norse Atlantic Airways. It is the ninth busiest airport in the world, Europe’s third busiest airport, and the busiest airport located within the European Union. It offers direct flights to most countries and hosts more airlines than any other airport in the world.
Charles de Gaulle Airport has three terminals. Terminals 1 and 3 are located to one side of the airport while Terminal 2 on the other side, is comprised of 7 sub-terminal buildings (2A to 2G).
Terminal 1 is a circular building that houses key functions such as check-in counters and baggage claim conveyors. Seven satellite boarding gates are connected to the circular terminal building by underground walkways.
Terminals 2A to 2F are interconnected by elevated walkways and situated adjacent to each other. Terminal 2G is a satellite building which is only accessible by shuttle bus.
Terminal 3 hosts charter and low-cost airlines. It consists of one single building that hosts arrivals and departures and has no boarding gates. All passengers at this terminal are ferried by airport buses to the aircraft stands.
The CDGVAL light-rail shuttle connects Terminal 2 to Terminals 1 and 3.
There are many shops and places to dine while at the airport. Bars and restaurants include fast food chains, popular cafes, French cuisine and premium restaurant sit-down areas.
Among the many shops at the airport are high-end fashion and luxury brands, jewelry and accessories dealers, perfumes and fragrances, mobile and electronics and duty-free retailers.
There are also several lounges where travelers can relax and unwind. These can be found in Terminal 1, and Terminals 2A, 2C, 2B, 2D, 2E, 2F and 2G.
Train: A train line called “RER B” is the most common method of public transport at the airport for reaching Paris. It stops at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. There is also a high-speed rail station located between Terminals 2C and 2F.
Taxi: Taxi ranks are located outside each of the airport’s three terminals.
Car rentals: Several car rental companies operate at the airport. The service counters are available between the first and last flights of the day.
Parking: There is a range of parking services at the airport. These include premium access and economy options, as well as garage and surface lot parking.
