EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL) is an airport unique in its genre due to its strategic location serving three countries. BSL is situated in the administrative commune of Saint-Louis in France, only 3.5 km northwest of the Swiss city of Basel and 46 km southwest of Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany. This airport welcomed over 8 million passengers in 2023, providing over 100 direct routes to plenty of destinations in Europe, with some routes to the Middle East and North Africa, as well as a flight to Montreal in Canada. Used by about 25 airlines for their operations, BSL also serves as a base for EasyJet Switzerland.
This airport consists of a single terminal building and is divided into two specular sections: a French and a Swiss one.
Level 1: This is the basement of the building, home to the car parks.
Level 2: The ground floor is for arrivals. It features services such as passport controls, lost and found desks, and a duty-free.
Level 3: Level 3 is used for the departures. The French part is home to check-ins 1-32, while the Swiss part houses check-ins 42-52 and 61-81.
Level 4: This floor has a ‘Y’ shape and features the gates, with gates 22-32 used for international flights.
Level 5: This floor only houses a few restaurants.
Level 6: Rarely used by passengers, this level is home to the EuroAirport business center.
Unfortunately, there are no sleeping pods or cabins inside the airport. If you are planning to spend your night here, you will have to opt for one of the nearby hotels offering a shuttle service or pay for a taxi.
The airport has several duty-free stores both in the French and Swiss parts. You will also find a variety of eateries and lots of services, such as free wifi, a skyview lounge, and a terrace.
