Despite having only two major international airports, Belgium as a country is extremely well-connected for air travel. Between these two airports, travelers can conveniently make connections with many destinations throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America.

The main international airport in Belgium is Brussels Airport (BRU) and is the more northernly located of the country’s two major airports. It serves as a major international hub for passenger and cargo flights with connections to many long-haul destinations in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America. Its convenient location, with connections available to so many international destinations has helped to make it a popular stopover for international travellers.

The second busiest airport in Belgium is Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL). It is located to the south of the nation’s capital, near Charleroi. Brussels South Charleroi does not offer flights to as many destinations as Brussels Airport, but it does regularly offer flights to many international destinations throughout North Africa, the Middle East and Scandinavia, and as far away as Hong Kong. It is more well known for offering low-cost flights to various European destinations.

Located further to the east of the two main passenger airports, is Liège Airport (LEG). It is shown on our map below using a red icon indicator. Despite not carrying as much passenger traffic, Liège Airport is one of the busiest and largest cargo hubs in Europe. It is responsible for handling significant freight volumes for international travel and is very popular among express delivery service carriers.

Antwerp Airport (ANR) is located further to the north of the main Brussels Airport (BRU). It, along with Ostend-Bruges Airport (OST) which is located near the north coast of Belgium are primarily responsible for catering to domestic and regionally based flights.
