Located roughly 28 km southwest of Moscow center, Vnukovo International Airport (VKO) is one of the four airports serving Russia’s capital. Formally known as Vnukovo Andrei Tupolev International Airport, this airport welcomed over 24 million passengers in 2019. Nowadays, numbers are way lower due to the escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War. As of today, approximately 30 airlines fly to and from this airport, offering destinations all over the world.

The airport used to consist of three terminals: Terminal A, Terminal B, and Terminal D. However, Terminals B and D are now out of service, so all international and domestic flights are operating from Terminal A. This building is divided into four floors.

Basement: Here, you will find the metro and Suburban Express

First Floor: The first floor is for domestic and international arrivals

Second and Third Floors: These floors are used for domestic and international departures, customs controls, passport controls, and security checkpoints.

The DoubleTree by Hilton is located right in front of the terminal, and there are other nearby accommodations that can be easily reached with a quick walk. Inside the airport, you will also find two capsule hotels: the Aerosleep Capsule Hotel and the Relax Point.

Transportation at Vnukovo International Airport

There are plenty of ways to travel to and from this airport. Here are the most popular:

Metro: This is one of the most efficient ways to reach the airport. A new section of the Solntsevskaya metro line was opened in September 2023, which includes a stop at Vnukovo Airport.

Suburban Express: The Suburban Express connects the airport with Kiyevsky railway station in about 40 minutes.
