Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is the primary international airport serving the Greater Pittsburgh Region. It also serves West Virginia and Ohio, and is the largest public airport in the state of Pennsylvania.
The airport operates as a hub for Southern Airways Express and is an operating base for Allegiant Air. It offers flights throughout North America and Europe and is located approximately 10mi (15km) west of downtown Pittsburgh.
The airport consists of two terminals. A Landside Terminal and an Airside Terminal.
Landside Terminal: Contains security check-in and security clearance areas, along with car rental counters, and pick-up and drop-off areas for ground transportation.
After clearing security, passengers use one of two underground people movers, for transport to the Airside Terminal.
Airside Terminal: Contains all Departure gates. Has four Concourses A, B, C, and D:
Concourse A: Gates A (A2-A22).
Concourse B: Gates B (B26-B48).
Concourse C: All international arrivals pass through this concourse. Gates C (C55-C61).
Concourse D: Gates D (D78-D88).
The Airside Terminal also contains an AirMall, which offers numerous retail stores and restaurants.
There are many dining options at the airport. These have been conveniently located for travelers before and after security clearances, in both terminals, and as part of all four concourses. Options for food at the airport include cafes, coffee shops, bakeries, fast food, casual dining, takeaway, fresh foods, sandwiches, high-quality sit-down restaurants, bars and grills.
There are some shopping options located before security at the landside terminal, however the majority of shopping outlets are located in the airside terminal, as part of the center core. There are also newsstands, bookstores, and duty-free shopping outlets located in most of the individual concourse sections.
