Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) is one of the primary hubs in Pennsylvania, together with Philadelphia International Airport and Pittsburgh International Airport. It’s located 15 km southeast of Harrisburg and is currently used by five airlines: Allegiant, American, Delta, United, and Frontier. These connect MDT to a total of 16 cities across the USA.
This airport consists of a single terminal extending over three floors:
First Floor: This level is home to the ticket counters, baggage claims, and information desk. From the main entrance, passengers will find ticket counters on their right and baggage claims on the left. This floor also features an oversized bag drop point, a police station, and an information point.
Second Floor: The second floor is for security checkpoints and gates. MDT features three concourses (A - C). Travelers will find Concourse A on their right, Concourse B in front of them past security, and Concourse C on their left.
Third Floor: This level is mostly used for administration purposes and features some offices and a conference room. This area is also home to an observation deck for passengers wanting the perfect view of arriving and departing planes.
Those wanting to spend the night at the airport can book a room at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Harrisburg International Airport located on airport grounds. Other nearby accommodations provide a shuttle service to the airport.
Harrisburg International Airport has plenty of amenities for its passengers. Here, travelers will find several eateries, including Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, and Subway. MDT also features a few stores for last-minute purchases, a lactation pod for mothers, and free wifi.
This airport features a transportation center located on the first floor of the parking garage. Here are a few popular options to travel to and from this airport:
Bus: RabbitTransit’s Route 7 connects the airport to several areas from Monday to Saturday. The bus also stops at Middletown Amtrak Train station.
Car Hire: Several car rental agencies are available on-site. You can find these on the ground floor of the transportation center.
Taxi: Good Cabs and American Taxi connect the airport to several destinations in the area. Similarly to car rental agencies, cabs can be found on the ground floor of the transportation center.
Car Sharing: Uber, Lyft, and Vysh are authorized to work at MDT. Passengers can meet their drivers on the 3rd floor of the parking garage.
Parking lots are also available. You can check current fares on the airport’s official website.
