Norfolk International Airport (ORF) serves the Hampton Roads metropolitan area of southeast Virginia along with northeast North Carolina. Despite its name, the airport does not currently offer any regular services for international routes.
This airport is the 65th busiest airport in the United States, and the third-busiest airport in the state of Virginia. It is categorized as a small hub airport by the FAA. Delta Air Lines has the largest share of passenger traffic at the airport, followed by Southwest Airlines and American Airlines.
The airport consists of a single main terminal building. It has two Concourses A and B for handling Departures, along with an Arrivals Hall that is located adjacent to the main lobby of the terminal building.
Next to the main pickup and drop-off area for the airport, is the centrally located building which contains the main lobby area. This area, which is also referred to as the Main Terminal consists of two levels.
On the lower level are the ticketing stations for the various airlines. On the upper level are located flight information centres, airport administration desks, business lounges, conference centres and dining and shops.
Beyond the Main Terminal hosting the lobby area, there are two Concourses, A and B, for departing passengers with boarding gates.
Concourse A: Is located to the north side of the terminal area. It contains Gates A1-A11 and boarding gates for Southwest, American Airlines, and Allegiant Air along with smaller charter and international flights.
Concourse B: Is located to the south side of the terminal area. It contains Gates B16-B30 and boarding gates for Delta, United, Frontier and Spirit Airlines, and Breeze Airways.
Located to the north and west side of the main lobby area of the airport, is the Arrivals Hall.
Here, passengers can find the baggage claim zones, along with the counters for the various rental car companies that operate at the airport.
There is a pedestrian walkway and bridge that connects the Arrivals Hall to the main lobby area.
There are many dining and shopping options for travelers to enjoy while at the airport. Within the main lobby area on the second level there are several food outlets including fast food options and a couple of coffee shops. There is also a convenience store located before clearing past security and a shop that features electronics and gadgets.
Past the security clearing area, there are more convenience outlets for your shopping pleasure. There are also shops that include the latest in electronics, and speciality retail featuring the latest in gifts, toys and accessories.
The airport also offers complimentary Wi-Fi services throughout the airport for passengers.
Public transit: There are currently no public transit options available at the airport. The nearest bus connection (HRT Route 15) is 1.5 miles (2.4km) away from the airport.
Taxis: Several different taxi companies operate services at the airport.
Rideshare: Ride share providers use a designated pickup zone located outside Door 5 of the Arrivals Hall.
Rental cars: On-site rental car reservation desks can be found in the Arrivals Hall on the ground floor, towards the north end of the hallway. Hours of operation are between 4:30AM until the last arriving flight of the night.
Parking: Several parking options are available for travelers at the airport. These include short-term hourly rates, daily rates, electric vehicle charging stations, motorcycle parking lots and a park and wait lot for guests who are waiting to pick up passengers arriving from the airport.
