Narita International Airport (NRT) is one of Japan's busiest airports, welcoming over 35 million passengers in 2023. Roughly 100 airlines operate here, offering flights to approximately 20 domestic and 100 international destinations. Narita Airport serves as the main international hub for several companies, including All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, and United Airlines.
As you can see in the map above, Narita International Airport consists of three terminals, conveniently named Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3. Terminals 2 and 3 are interconnected, while Terminal 1 is located in a separate building. Low carrier companies such as Jetstar Japan and Spring Japan operate in Terminal 3. A shuttle bus transports passengers between all terminals to facilitate connections.
Narita International Airport is home to several hotels. Narita Airport Rest House is within walking distance from Terminals 1 and 2, while a capsule hotel is available right in front of Terminal 2. Day rooms equipped with showers are also available in Terminals 2 and 3.
Narita International Airport has plenty of restaurants serving delicious Japanese food. World-renowned fast-food chains and coffeehouses are also available. Among these are Starbucks, MacDonald's, and Subway. 7-Eleven supermarkets can be found in Terminals 1 and 2 for all sorts of purchases. All terminals are equipped with duty-free stores, and the airport features all sorts of boutiques selling products ranging from luxury clothes to books, souvenirs, and more.
Passengers can reach the airport by train or bus. Narita Airport has two train stations, one located a 5-minute walk from Terminal 1 and the other roughly 10 minutes from Terminal 2. Several buses also operate this route.
Those who prefer to drive can opt for one of the car agencies available on-site. Travellers arriving at Terminal 3 will have to reach Terminal 2 to access these services.
