HotelOften abbreviated as SHIA, Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK) is one of the busiest airports in the world. In 2023, it welcomed over 49 million passengers, making it one of the main hubs in Southeast Asia. Roughly 40 airlines operate here, offering flights to all corners of the world. Once known as Jakarta Cengkareng Airport, CGK is located on the island of Java, about 20 km northwest of Central Jakarta.
The airport consists of three terminals. These are connected thanks to the Skytrain, which also stops at the airport train station.
Terminal 1: This is the oldest terminal, and today, it serves domestic airlines.
Terminal 2: Opened in 1991, Terminal 2 is opposite to Terminal 1 and is used for international and domestic flights.
Terminal 3: This is the newest terminal and is used as a base for Garuda Indonesia, the flag carrier of Indonesia. Today, it operates both international and domestic flights.
Every terminal has at least one hotel where travelers can spend the night. You will find the D’Prima Hotel in Terminal 1, the Jakarta Airport Hotel and Digital Airport Hotel in Terminal 2, and the Anara Airport International Hotel, D’Prima Hotel, and Digital Airport Hotel in Terminal 3.
All terminals have a variety of food options to choose from, including renowned eateries and fast-food chains, such as KFC and Starbucks. In terms of shopping, you’ll find duty-free stores and other shops selling all sorts of goods.
One of the most efficient ways to travel to Jakarta city center is by train. You can reach the airport train station thanks to the free shuttle bus connecting the terminals. Seven taxi companies and five shuttle service mini-buses now also operate at the airport. If you want to save some money or if you are not heading to Jakarta but another city in Java, you can buy a ticket for one of the many buses available.
