Athens International Airport (ATH), commonly initialized as “AIA”, is the largest international airport in Greece, serving the city of Athens and region of Attica. It is the base of Aegean Airlines, the flag carrier of Greece, as well as smaller Greek airlines. It is the second busiest and largest airport in the Balkans, and the 18th busiest airport in Europe. The airport is located 20km (12mi) to the east of central Athens.
The airport has two terminals, the Main Terminal, and the Satellite Terminal. The Main Terminal is linked to the Satellite Terminal via an underground passage with moving walkways.
Main Terminal: The terminal has three levels. The ground floor is used for Arrivals and has two sections. Hall A is used for non-Schengen flights international flights. Hall B is used for inter-Schengen flights and domestic destinations. The other two levels are used for Departures, food courts, shops and duty free. All the airport’s 144 check-in desks are in the Main Terminal.
Satellite Terminal: The satellite terminal is much smaller and is located to the south of the main terminal. It has two levels. The ground floor is used for Arrivals. The upper level is used for Departures.

The airport has several dining options including cafes, takeout, and local gourmet cuisine. In addition, there are shops featuring the latest in electronics, fashion, and duty free.
Rail: A railway station is located directly across from the airport terminal and is accessible by an elevated walkway. Multiple services run from this station.
Bus: Four bus routes connect directly with Athens and Piraeus. These are located outside the Arrivals area, between exits 4 and 5. Five regional buses operate at the airport and these are located outside Arrivals area between exits 2 and 3.
Taxi: Taxis are located at the designated taxi waiting area outside exit 3 of the arrivals level of the Main Terminal. Taxis operate using a flat rate, for days and nights. Limousine services are also available.
Car rentals: Various car rental companies operate at the airport and are open 24/7. Kiosks can be found on the north side of the Main Terminal, near the Arrivals area.
Parking: Short-term and long-term parking options are available on-site in three parking lots. The locations of these can be found using the map at the top of this page. A free shuttle bus is available.
