Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) is one of the busiest in India and serves the city of Hyderabad in the state of Telangana. This airport is located in the town of Shamshabad, roughly 24 km south of the state's capital. HYD welcomed over 25 million passengers between April 2023 and March 2024, re-establishing itself as one of the country's main hubs. It is now used by over 20 airlines and serves as a hub for several companies, including Alliance Air (India) and IndiGo.
While in the past the airport was divided into an international and a domestic terminal, these two were later combined into a single terminal building. HYD now consists of a T-shaped building with eight levels and two piers. It has over 100 check-in counters, 20 immigration counters that will soon increase to 68, 40 emigration counters soon to be increased to 51, and 100 baggage claim belts.
Those planning to spend the night at the airport can do so at the Airport Lodge located in the Public Transportation Center. Dormitory beds and private rooms with and without A/C are available. Otherwise, you can also reserve a room at Transit by Encalm, located inside the terminal.
Here, you will find several renowned fast-food chains and coffeehouses, as well as shops selling all sorts of goods and a duty-free store.
