Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE), also known as General Mitchell International Airport, is the primary airport for Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the United States. It also is frequently used by travelers in the south and eastern parts of the state, along with travelers in northern Illinois.
The airport is a civil-military joint undertaking and is categorized as a medium-hub for primary and commercial services. It is named after United States Army General Billy Mitchell, raised in Milwaukee and often regarded by many as the father of the United States Air Force.
The airport is located approximately 6 miles (9 km) south of downtown Milwaukee.
The terminal at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport consists of a single building that contains two Concourses, C and D. There are two levels at the airport, a lower level and the Main Terminal level.
At the lower level of the airport, is the ticketing area for the various airlines. Once past the ticketing area passengers proceed to the Main Terminal level. Here are located various shops and restaurants for travelers to enjoy while they are at the airport.
To the north, or left side of the Main Terminal area, is where Concourse C can be found. It contains Gates C9-C25. This concourse is primarily used by Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.
To the east, or straight ahead from where the ticketing area is found, is the location of Concourse D. This is where Gates D27-D56 can be found. It houses the remaining airlines at the airport.
There is currently a significant redevelopment project underway at Concourse E, to transform it into terminal for international arrivals.

There is a wide variety of dining available at the airport for travelers. These can be found both in the Main Terminal area as well as in both Concourses C and D. Options include popular cafes, sandwich bars, family friendly restaurants, pizza shops, and fresh foods. There is also a licensed wine bar located in Concourse C.
There are also many shops at the airport for travelers to enjoy at their convenience. These include travel essentials, gifts and souvenirs, fashion and apparel, speciality retailers and seasonal goods.
The airport also features a variety of other services and amenities including a flight museum, banquet halls and conference rooms, shipping centres, a nursing suite for mothers and a service animal relief area.
Train: The Milwaukee Airport Rail Station serves rail passengers between the airport and nearby areas using Amtrak’s Hiawatha service. A free shuttle bus service operates between the rail station and the airport. The shuttle service is available outside the Baggage Claim area next to Door #5. The shuttle service runs every 5-10 minutes, 24 hours a day.
Bus: The Milwaukee County Transit System operates at the bus stop located outside of Baggage Claim Exit #1. There is a GreenLine service that operates between the airport and Bayshore Town Center, travelling through downtown Milwaukee along the way. Route 80 connects downtown Milwaukee and the downtown MATC campus to the airport.
Coach bus: Several coach bus lines operate services at the airport. Their stops can be found located at Baggage Claim Exit #2.
Taxi: Taxi services are available outside the Baggage Claim Exit #3.
Rideshare: Rideshare app designated pickup location is next to Baggage Claim Carousel #2.
Rental Cars: Several car rental companies have operations at the airport. The car rental centre can be found opposite of the main entrance to the terminal building, as shown on our map at the top of this page.
Parking: There are several parking options available at the airport. These include both covered garages and uncovered surface lots, as well as daily rates and value rates for longer-term stays. There is also a surface parking lot, or cell phone waiting area, available for guests waiting to pick up passengers from the airport.
