Sangster International Airport (MBJ) is a major international airport servicing tourist destinations along the north coast of Jamaica. It is the third busiest airport in the Caribbean by passenger traffic.

Named after Jamaica’s second-ever prime minister, Sir Donald Sangster, the airport is located 3mi (4.8km) east of Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The airport consists of one single-story terminal building. It has a central lobby located inside the security checkpoint that features several shops and restaurants.

Additionally, there are two piers where the boarding gates are located.

One of these piers houses Gates 1-7 and is located to the northwest side of the airport terminal building. The second pier houses Gates 8-19 and extends towards the east side of the airport terminal.

There is a large seating area located centrally within the eastern pier. There is an second seating area located towards the northeast corner of the northern pier.

Dining and shops at Sangster International Airport

There are many shops and eateries for travelers to dine at while at the airport. Located immediately inside of the security checkpoint area, there are a host of restaurants including cafes, fast food chains and juice bars.

Inside the main terminal area there are also many shops that feature locally popular fashion and apparel gear.

Down the hallway of the eastern pier, there are several more retailers including a shop that features the latest in electronics and technology gadgets. There is also a large restaurant and bar area conveniently located between Gates 13, 14, 15 and 16.

A shop featuring duty free items is located immediately next to Gate 13.

Located to the north side of the main lobby near the entrance area, there is a second, larger duty free shopping outlet.

Within the pier located to the northside, featuring Gates 1-7, are more apparel and seasonal retail shops, a popular café, and bakery spot. Towards the end of the pier between Gates 1 and 2, there is another licensed restaurant and bar area for passengers to enjoy while they wait.

Find transportation from the airport: Taxi, rental cars, parking

Taxi: There are two taxi companies operating at the airport. Their names are JUTA and JCAL. They share a common reservations desk (Authorised Airport Taxi) which is located immediately next to the customs exit.

Car rentals: There are many car rental companies with operations at the airport. Their service counters can be found in the Ground Transportation and Arrivals Hall, after clearing through the customs area.

Parking: Parking at the airport is available 24/7. There is a parking lot located directly opposite the airport terminal for shorter-term stays featuring hourly rates.

There is also overnight parking available at parking lot 2. It is the more southern of the two lots, and further from the airport. Parking lot 2 will be the first of the two parking lots as you approach the airport terminal from the main drive. Its entrance is located immediately on the left-hand side.
