Also known as Gowen Field, Boise Air Terminal Airport (BOI) is the main airport serving Idaho. It is used by nine airlines providing direct connections to 27 cities in the USA, most of which are on the West Coast. The airport is about three miles south of downtown Boise and offers both civilian and military services. In 2023, BOI handled over 4.7 million passengers, re-establishing itself as the main hub in this state.
Boise Airport consists of a single terminal divided into three floors:
First Floor: The first floor is divided into a landslide and an airside area. The former features baggage claims and some transportation services, such as the rental car lobby. The airside area is home to Gates C1-C12 but is not directly connected to the landside area on this floor. Passengers will have to go to the second level to access this area.
Second Floor: The second floor has a ticket lobby and TSA checkpoints. Its airside area houses Gates B10-B22.
Third Floor: The third floor only has a landslide area. This is mainly used for administrative purposes, but it also houses the airport's lost-and-found desk.
While there are no sleeping pods inside the airport, passengers wanting to spend the night here will find several accommodations that can be easily reached with a quick 10-15 minute walk. Some hotels also provide a shuttle service to the airport.
Boise Airport features plenty of amenities for its passengers. Here, travelers will find two business centers on the landside areas of the first and second floors, as well as a chapel, a lactation room, and a pet relief area for those traveling with their four-legged friends. Stores and eateries are limited but can be found in all areas of the airport.
If you are about to travel to BOI, here are a few transportation options to consider:
Shuttles: Several private companies, such as Salt Lake Express, Sun Valley Express, and Valley Regional Transit, serve the airport.
Rideshare: Uber and Lyft are also available. The pick-up location is on the second-floor rotunda exit floor. Passengers who request a ride should follow the curb to the right and find the location labeled ‘Rideshare Pick-Up Area.’
Taxis: Cabs can be found waiting for their next passenger on the black curb.
Car Hire: Several rental car agencies are available on-site. A Consolidated Rent-A-Car Center is now under construction.
Several parking lots are also available. You can check current rates and locations at the airport’s official website.
