Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), also known simply as Bangkok Airport, is the main international airport serving Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. It is one of the largest international airports in Southeast Asia, and a regional hub for aviation.
The airport serves as the main hub for Thai Airways International and Bangkok Airways. It is also the operating base for Thai VietJet Air and ThaiAirAsia. It is the 17th busiest airport in the world, 11th busiest airport in Asia, and the busiest airport in Thailand.
The airport has one terminal, 7 concourse areas, and a satellite terminal.
Main Terminal: This is the main area for security and check-in. Pick-up and drop-off zones are located outside the main terminal. The main terminal has five levels, including a basement level. It is primarily used for restaurants, shops, government offices, and airport security.
Past the security checkpoints, there are three zones, containing a total of seven concourses:
West Zone: Concourse A (Gates A), Concourse B (Gates B), Concourse C (Gates C).
Center Zone: Concourse D (Gates D).
East Zone: Concourse E (Gates E), Concourse F (Gates F), Concourse G (Gates G).
Satellite Terminal (SAT-1): (midfield concourse) This satellite terminal is linked to the main terminal via an underground airport people mover (APM). It has a total of 28 gates.
There are a wide variety of dining options located before and after security in all levels and zones of the airport. Options include convenience stores, cafes, fast food restaurants, takeaway food shops, local cuisine and high-quality sit-down restaurants.
There are many shops to explore at the airport. Offerings include mini marts, bookstores, pharmacy, jewelry, cosmetics, souvenirs, fashion and accessories.
The airport also contains several lounges where guests can relax and unwind. These are located throughout many of the airport’s main concourse areas.
The airport has a 600-room hotel operated by Accor under the Novotel brand. The hotel can be found above the underground rail link, in front of the main passenger terminal.
Airport rail link: Located on the underground floor of the airport. Also linked to the Novotel Hotel at the airport. Services connections with BTS Green Line and MRT Blue Line. Service runs 6:00am-12:00am. Operated by SRTET, a subsidiary of the State Railway of Thailand.
Regional train: Suburban commuter train between Lad Krabang and the northern city of Rangsit via downtown Bangkok. Train also connects with BTS and MRT at Phaya Thai and Phetchaburi stations. Operated by State Railway of Thailand (SRT).
Bus: Suvarnabhumi Public Transport Center is the airport’s main bus terminal. It is located northeast of the airport. Three air-conditioned city bus routes operate from the airport terminal. These are operated by Bangkok Mass Transit Authority. There is also a free bus service that connects the airport to Don Mueang Airport, with services that operate 5:00am-12:00am.
Taxi: Public taxis are located at the Ground Level (Level 1). Tickets must be printed from the ticket queue before queuing up for a taxi.
Car rentals: Several car rental agencies operate counters at the airport. These can be found in the Main Terminal, in the public area, on the Second Floor.
Parking: There are multi-storey car parking garages located outside the airport, across from the main terminal. These can be located using our map at the top of this page.
Sky Lane Cycle Track is a cycling track that surrounds the airport perimeter. Its entrance is located in the northeastern corner of the airport area. It is the longest cycling track in Asia and contains facilities including medical, shops, food and drinks and a parking area.
