Birmingham International Airport (BHM) is the busiest airport in Alabama and is located about five miles northeast of Downtown Birmingham. Five airlines currently operate here: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit, and United Airlines. These offer flights to about 20 destinations in the USA. While in the past, BHM offered direct routes to international destinations, such as the Bahamas and Canada, today, it only handles domestic flights, even though the word 'international' remains in its name. BHM welcomed over 3 million passengers in 2023, re-establishing itself as Alabama's primary hub.
BHM consists of a single terminal divided into two levels.
Unfortunately, there are no hotels or sleeping cabins at Birmingham International Airport. However, there are a few nearby hotels located about one mile from the terminal.
