Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), also known informally as Schiphol Airport, is the primary international airport that serves the Netherlands. It is the third-busiest airport for international travel globally, and Europe’s third-busiest airport by overall terminal traffic.
Located 9 km (6 mi) southwest of Amsterdam, the airport is one of the major hubs of the SkyTeam airline alliance. It is also a principal hub for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the national flag carrier of the Netherlands. It is regarded as being one of the best airports among those in Western Europe.
The airport uses a one-terminal concept, with all facilities centered around a central plaza, named the Schiphol Plaza. The main terminal is divided into three sections, or halls, each containing multiple concourse areas.
Departure Hall 1 comprises Concourses B and C, which are also referred to as Piers. Both of these piers are dedicated to handling flights to Schengen destinations. Pier D shares space between Hall 1 and Hall 2. Pier B contains 14 Gates, and Pier C contains 21 Gates.
Departures Hall 2 comprises Concourses D and E. Pier D is the largest of the two and has two levels. The lower level is used for non-Schengen destinations and the upper level is used for Schengen destinations. Gates D1 to D57 are used for non-Schengen destinations and beginning with Gate D59 and upwards are used for Schengen destinations. Pier E is used solely for non-Schengen destinations.
Departures Hall 3 comprises Concourses F, G and H/M. Both Pier F and Pier G are used for flights to non-Schengen destinations. Pier F has 8 gates and is typically used by SkyTeam members. Pier G has 13 gates.
Pier H and Pier M are physically one concourse that consists of seven gates that are shared between them. Pier H is used for non-Schengen flights and Pier M is used exclusively for Schengen destinations.
You can use the airport map at the top of this page to view the complete terminal layout including the location of all the concourses and boarding gates.
