Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) is a primary commercial service airport located near Savannah, Georgia, in the United States. It is 8 miles (13km) northwest of the Savannah Historic District. It provides services for the nearby Savannah, Georgia and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina communities, as well as the neighboring areas including Bluffton and Beaufort and the Golden Isles region of Coastal Georgia.

In 2022, it was ranked by Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards as the #1 Best Domestic Airport for the second consecutive year. It is regarded for its accessibility, shopping, check-in and security, restaurants, and overall cleanliness.

The airport is also home for the Savannah Air National Guard Base (ANGB). The Savannah ANGB occupies more than 145 buildings and 239 acres of land to both the southeast and northeast quadrants of the airport grounds.

The airport contains a single passenger terminal building.

On the upper level you can find the Departures Hall. This is where the ticketing counters for the various airlines are located. Past the ticketing counters is a shopping area, named Savannah Square. Here travelers can find many shops and restaurants for their enjoyment.

Past the shopping square is the security checkpoint area. Once cleared past the security area, are the boarding gates. There are fifteen boarding gates in all. They are numbered in ascending order as you make your way down the long pier-shaped hallway.

The Departures Hall is found on the first floor of the airport terminal. Here, you will find the baggage claim area, and access to the several rental car counters that operate at the airport.

Dining and shops at Savannah Hilton Head

There are a several great options to choose from when dining at Savannah Airport. These include cafes, fast food and takeaway, ice cream shoppes, family-friendly restaurants as well as licensed bar and grilles.

Shops at the airport feature jewelry and accessories, fashion and apparel, speciality and seasonal retailers, souvenirs, gifts and convenience items.

There are also private lounges including a military lounge for veterans, a hair salon, mother’s nursing room, and shoeshine services. Travelers can also find vending machines at the airport that offer cosmetics and beauty products, packaged foods and drinks, and the latest in electronics.

Find transportation from the airport: Taxi, rideshare, car rentals, parking

Taxi: There are a wide range of taxi services that operate at the airport. They can be found outside of baggage claim and are available for on-demand requests.

Rideshare: Designated areas for rideshare apps can be found at the north end of the area for baggage claim.

Car rentals: Many companies operate service counters at the airport. They can be found in the baggage claim area on the lower level of the terminal. All return lots are located adjacent to the main terminal building.

Parking: There are many different parking lots that provide services at the airport. In addition to the rental car parking lots, located to each side of the main terminal building, there is a long-term garage that offers both daily and hourly rates directly across from the entrance to the terminal building. Beyond this parking garage, are two more economy garages that offer reduced rates. A further distance away, there is a surface lot featuring value rates. There are additional parking spaces available to handle overflow volumes, as well as valet parking services and a cell phone waiting lot for guests to pick up passengers.
