Locally known as Kranebitten Airport, Innsbruck Airport (INN) is one of the main hubs in Austria. Located about 4 km from Innsbruck city center, this airport was opened back in 1925. As of today, it connects this area to several European countries via direct flight. INN is mainly active during the winter when tourism in the area increases exponentially due to the many tourists coming here for their ski holidays. The airport is also used by six companies offering pleasure flights.
Innsbruck Airport consists of a single terminal building divided into two floors.
Ground Floor: On the west side of the ground floor, you will find the arrivals with police controls for passengers arriving from non-Schengen areas. This floor is also home to a landside area for departing passengers, featuring check-in gates, as well as a few stores and eateries. The airside area is for Gates 1 - 8 and features a duty-free store.
First Floor: This floor is home to Gates 9 - 12 and has several lounges. Here, you will also find a terrace and a self-service restaurant.
Unfortunately, there are no sleeping cabins or transit hotels at the airport. However, passengers planning to spend the night here will find a couple of hotels that can be easily reached with a quick 10-15-minute walk from the terminal.
Despite being relatively small, Innsbruck Airport has plenty of amenities for its passengers. Here, you will find a duty-free area as well as an ‘airport shop’ selling all kinds of items, from magazines to travel products, bus tickets, and more. The airport also features a few eateries, with famous cafès, such as Costa Coffee, and is home to several lounges, a terrace, and some tour operators.
Below are some popular transportation options to travel to and from the airport:
Bus: Line F connects the airport to the city center, stopping at Innsbruck train station. A trip lasts about 20 minutes.
Car Hire: Six car rental agencies have offices at the airport. The car rental facility is connected to the terminal via a covered walkway.
Taxi: Passengers will find a taxi stand in front of the terminal. You can check estimated fares by clicking on this link.
Those arriving at the airport in their own car can park in the multi-story parking near the building. The first twenty minutes are free of charge. You can check official fares on this link.
